A History of Quality
Wrightway Auto Carriers grew
up with the Alaska road system. Beginning
in 1951, founder Tex Wright saw a need to transport vehicles from the
Port of Seward to the bustling young community of Anchorage. It was a
challenging trip of more than 125 miles over narrow, unpaved roads, taking
as long as 18 hours one way.
And speaking of challenges, Wrightway also pioneered the transport of
vehicles over the Alcan Highway and the Haul Road to the North Slope. As a
result, we developed many equipment innovations and operating procedures
required to meet the tough operating conditions of the Far North where
temperatures can drop to -80ºF.
